Ephemeris and accuracy. Local birth time is converted to Universal Time, then to Terrestrial Time using the Espenak-Meeus Delta T polynomial. Solar longitude uses Meeus solar theory with the full equation of centre. Lunar longitude uses the 60 term ELP series with eccentricity correction and the additive A1, A2, A3 terms. Planetary longitudes use the JPL approximate Keplerian elements with a three pass light time iteration, then annual aberration. Nutation in longitude is applied. The Ascendant is derived from Greenwich Mean Sidereal Time, true obliquity and geographic latitude. Ayanamsa is selectable. Expected positional accuracy is about one arc minute, which is well inside a Nakshatra pada of three degrees twenty minutes. Because the Ascendant advances roughly one degree every four minutes, a birth time accurate to within about five minutes is needed for exact house cusps and the Lagna degree.
Varga method. D1 is the Rashi chart. D2 Hora uses Leo and Cancer halves. D3 Drekkana uses the 1st, 5th and 9th signs. D4 Chaturthamsa uses the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th. D5 Panchamsa starts from Aries for odd signs and Aquarius for even. D6 Shashtamsa starts from Aries for odd signs and Libra for even. D7 Saptamsa starts from the sign for odd and the 7th sign for even. D8 Ashtamsa starts from Aries for movable, Leo for fixed and Sagittarius for dual. D9 Navamsa starts from the sign for movable, the 9th for fixed and the 5th for dual. These follow Parashara.
